Our Evolution
Red Cliff Design was founded in 2014 by Vicki Russell, an experienced designer looking to balance work with a young family. Vicki's goal was to create a flexible and approachable design and illustration studio serving local businesses, offering a conscientious and friendly service.
Vicki identified a gap in local, quality, design services and, since its launch in 2014, Red Cliff has worked with a huge range of local businesses and individuals, many of whom are regular clients (now friends). Over the years the Red Cliff portfolio has grown to include national companies, local and national charities, along with both private and public sector services across the UK.
As Red Cliff expanded, Andrew and Maria joined Vicki's freelance team – they lend an invaluable hand when things get hectic! This teamwork sparks new ideas and creativity, not to mention the sharing of knowledge, skills and bad jokes.
Meet the Team
VICKI
Founder / Designer / Illustrator
Vicki has worked in the design industry since graduating in 2001. Her career has spanned national publishing and editorial magazine design, through to large scale corporate design, along with product-focussed or business-focussed brand design.
Vicki has worked on projects of all sizes, covering many industries, designing for established brands, corporations, charities and government-funded projects, through to medium-sized businesses and small-scale start-ups.
Drawing on this wide experience Vicki is able to offer design advice, leadership and a tailored design service.
Vicki is a specialist in creating bespoke illustrative brand assets which add a distinct personality to projects.
In her spare time Vicki plays multiple sports, helps coach junior netball, and hangs out at the beach with her family in East Devon.
ANDREW
Designer / Digital Illustrator
Andrew joined the Red Cliff team as a freelancer in 2024. He is a self-taught graphic designer with over 20 years experience working in a range of creative sectors.
Whether it’s a small-brand clothing label or a national corporate exhibition stand, Andrew gives each task the same thought and attention to detail.
Andrew relishes the design process, enjoying the journey from initial sketches on paper through to the polished final outcome and excels at digital asset creation.
Andrew also turns his hand to detailed digital vehicle and football illustrations and spends down-time at home with his family in Mid Devon.
MARIA
Designer / Artist Printmaker
Maria has been working with Red Cliff as a freelancer since 2020. She has been involved in the design industry since graduating from Uni in 1991. Maria 'cut her teeth' working in the publishing sector on books and magazines before making a move into the public sector.
She has worked closely with national charities, art galleries and many other varied clients along the way, building specific skills in packaging and brand design.
Throughout her adult life, Maria has maintained a side-practice as an artist printmaker which provides her with a self-driven creative outlet and helps balance her design eye.
She occasionally exhibits her prints so watch this space for her latest shows.
